Third Party Add-Ons

Food Blogging Features

For all information in regards to food blogging features such as using tags, see food blogging features.

Instagram

You need an Access Token in order to have Instagram photos display on your sidebar. Grab it here.

Once you have your access token, insert it into the “Instagram Access Token” under custom text. After this your Instagram photos should display on the sidebar.

Instagram Gallery Page

You can also create a photo gallery page that uses your Instagram photos. See this guide: http://support.girafficthemes.com/customer/portal/articles/1222812-creating-an-instagram-photo-gallery-page

Flickr

You can show your last 8 photos from Flickr by just simply entering your Flickr ID into the Flickr ID field. To obtain your Flickr ID, use this online tool: http://idgettr.com/

You can also change the text used above the Flickr photos by editing the Flickr Title. E.g. you could change it to “Latest cooking photos”.

If you want to create a page that showcases a gallery using a Flickr Photoset, check out this guide.

Advertisement Images

You can include up to 5 images to be displayed on the sidebar. Just upload an image to Advertisement 1, Advertisement 2 etc. To attach a link to an image, just type in the link to the Advertisement 1 URL textfield (e.g. for the link to Advertisement 3 image, you would type it into the Advertisement 3 URL textfield).

Typekit

It is possible to use your Typekit account to use custom fonts for the headings.

1. Enter your Typekit User ID which can be found in the Kit Editor. inside the “Embed Code” option found on the top right.

2.  Back in the Kit Editor, click on “using fonts in CSS” which is on the top left underneath the Selectors section. This will show a pop up of how to use the fonts in CSS. Copy the text from the third box, but only the part that comes after “font-family”.

E.g. if it has this:

h1 { font-family: futura-pt,sans-serif; }

Then you only need to copy this part:

futura-pt,sans-serif

With that copied, enter it into the Custom Title Font field.

3. Remember to publish your kit settings and wait a few moments but if you follow the steps your headings should change to your new Typekit settings.

Order of Sidebar Widgets

The only way you can change the order of the sidebar widgets by clicking on “edit html” when customizing your theme.  Once you use custom html code, you will no longer receive automatic updates to Cookbook Theme.

Once inside the custom html, you need to scroll all the way down until you see a line that says <!— DESCRIPTION WIDGET —>

This is the first “widget”, which appears at the top. The code starts from that line and ends on the line that reads <!— END DESCRIPTION WIDGET—>
